What is Illuminate?

Illuminate is Fairfield City's New Year's Eve celebration, organised by Council. This family-friendly event features a wide-array of activities, including entertainment, food stalls, amusement rides, and games, culminating in a stunning fireworks display at 9:30pm.


Is the event free?

No, Illuminate is a ticketed event. Tickets are $5 per person aged 12 months and older.  


Where is the event held?

This event will take place at the Fairfield Showground – 443 Smithfield Road, Prairiewood.


What time does the event start?

Gates will open from 4:30pm.


I would like to be a stallholder for the event. What do I need to do?

Our Stallholder applications have not been released for this event, please stay tuned for more updates. 


I would like to perform at the event. What do I need to do?

Our Performer applications have not been released for this event, please stay tuned for more updates.

Entertainment and Activities

What entertainment will be on offer?

Enjoy a variety of entertainment, which includes music and dancing, amusement rides, roving performers, kids activities, trivia and more! 


What time are the fireworks?

The fireworks display is schedule to begin at 9:30pm, weather permitting. 


What should I bring?

Please bring anything from the following items:

  • Eski
  • Picnic blanket
  • Low fold-out chairs with bar legs

The following items are not permitted:

  • High chairs or four leg chairs - this causes damage to the grass on the oval

 

Please ensure you are fully prepared for any weather condition by bringing jackets, rain ponchos, hats, sunscreen and insect repellents (aerosols are not permitted)


What items are prohibited?

All patrons entering the event site will be subject to a security bag check.

The following items are prohibited at Illuminate:

  • Alcohol and illegal substances
  • Personal BBQ’s, cooking equipment, gas cylinders, helium cylinders, or electrical appliances
  • Umbrellas (please use ponchos or raincoats) or other shade structures  
  • Unsealed water bottles – sealed bottles may be permitted
  • Glass of any kind
  • Knives or weapons of any kind
  • Party poppers, flares, fireworks or sparklers
  • Animals or pets (excluding guide dogs and service animals)
  • Professional recording or broadcast devices
  • Drones

Are there ATMs on site?

Yes, there is an ATM available on site. However, we encourage all visitors to use cashless payments at the event.


Can I bring my pet?

To ensure the safety of pets amidst crowds and fireworks noise, all animals/pets (except assistance animals/pets) are not allowed.

Tips to keep your pets safe during fireworks:

  • Keep your pets indoors
  • Provide a safe place for them to hide
  • Drown/mask out the noise
  • Ensure their IDs and chips are up-to-date
  • Keep them busy

Please look after your pets at home, as fireworks display will be from 9:30pm - 9:45pm.

Is smoking allowed?

Smoking is prhobited in designated 'Smoke-Free Zones'. Please refer to signage for directions to the smoking area at Gate 3. 


What happens if it rains?

The event will proceed in wet weather as there is satisfactory shelter at the Fairfield Showground. However, if the weather conditions become extreme and pose a risk to patrons and event staff, the event may be cancelled.

Can I take photos / film on the night?

Photos can be taken for personal use. Professional photography (including the use of tripods for safety reasons) will not be permitted on the night without prior consent from Fairfield City Council’s Communications team.

Food & Beverage

What food is available?

A range of food trucks will offer delicious food options! 


Can we bring our own food?

Yes, picnics are most welcomed. However,  personal BBQs, cooking equipment, gas cylinders, helium cylinders or electrical appliances are not permitted to be brought into Fairfield Showground.


Can I bring alcohol?

No. This is an alcohol-free event. Bag searches at entry will be conducted.


Parking 

Where can I park?

There are over 600 free parking spots available at Fairfield Showground.

Alternatively, free parking is available in surrounding streets. Please adhere to traffic rules.  


Accessible Parking

Accessible parking spaces are available, subject to availability.

A kiss and drop zone is available at the Showground entrance.

Please ensure that you display your Mobility Parking Scheme Permit on your dashboard. 


Ticketing

What happens when tickets are sold out?

For safety reasons, once the event reaches full capacity patrons entry will be refused entry.


How much are entry tickets?

Tickets are $5 per person aged 12 months and older


My child is under 12 months old. Do I need to purchase a ticket?

No, children under 12 months do not require a ticket.


Can I get a refund?

Refund requests are assessed based on a case-by-case basis. Please email events@fairfieldcity.nsw.gov.au to request a refund. Approved refunds will be processed within 14 days. 

If declined, a $5 administrative fee per ticket will be charged. 

In the instance that the event is cancelled and cannot be rescheduled, a full refund of $5.00 will be refunded by the ticket provider.

Kindly note, refunds requested in the weeks leading up to the event will be processed in the new year. 


Can I purchase tickets on the day?

Tickets may be available on the day, subject to availability. If not sold out, you can purchase tickets through out website. 


I haven’t received my booking confirmation email or I can't locate my ticket

Visit the Trybooking website at  Resend Tickets | TryBooking Australia and enter in your email to retrieve your ticket.


I can't find my transaction details for my credit card statement

To locate your transaction, please visit the Trybooking website and enter in your details.


I’m having trouble printing my ticket. What can I do?

Ensure that the correct printer is selected when printing. Alternatively, please save as PDF onto your desktop, and try printing again.

Tickets can also be presented on your smart phone, tablet or iPad upon entry. Make sure your screen brightness is set high for efficient scanning into the event.
